5th Anniversary of Development

Five years ago on March 20th, I officially began development on Fleshport. It started based around an aesthetic I had in my head- wandering in a kitchen dimly lit by an orange tinted light. Sometime I should draw this concept, if I can get it out of my head correctly.  There isn't a room quite like that in my game, and maybe I should do some small edits to complete this vision I had, but so much grew out of that vibe, that image, that feeling. I began building my game, coming up with why someone would be in that room, why it's important, and where they were going to go next. I think I was about 3 - 4 rooms (or "maps") into the game when I decided I was going to go through with making a full game. That's the day I refer to as the first official day of development.

If you're interested in hearing a little more about the game's origins, you may like to watch this video.

I really wanted today to be the day I'd present to you all the full game, partially because it'd be symbolic, but also because five exact years would be pleasing to my OCD. Alas, I'm still gathering up all the final pieces to complete this project. I want to register an LLC since I plan on making more games under my business name. There's a few things I wanted to run by a Copyright lawyer as well. For the time being, I'm working on some music pieces I've wanted to do and plucking away at 4 different bugs that I'm having trouble re-creating (which hopefully means they won't be a huge problem if I can't figure them out.) There's also some fun little extras I'm adding to the game, like costumes for the MP, Easter eggs, and homages to some of my favorite artistic works.

For a while, the length of Fleshport's development bothered me. At times I've felt a bit embarrassed at how long this project has taken me, though it is my first full-length game and I have been juggling many other things on the side. Progress is being made and every day I work I'm learning something. With that in mind, I like to look at this time spent as an investment in building my skills while creating something I'm passionate about. I'm sorry that I couldn't publish the full game for you all today. My goal is now readjusted to hopefully be done by May.

This past year has been the best development year. I'm feeling really satisfied with a lot of the game, and now I have a bigger audience that's eager to see it finished. If anyone has thoughts on the latest demo update, let me know! Thank you for taking interest and I hope to see you all again soon.

Take your time!! It's better that you are proud of the final product than you rush it

Thank you, Jesus with tiddies, I appreciate hearing that. My apologies for the late reply, I'll give you 60 Hail Marys!
